Custom Web Applications

When the right tool doesn't exist yet.

Custom web apps for small businesses where off-the-shelf software almost fits but not quite. The tool gets shaped to your workflow, not the other way round.

Realistic examples

Three businesses. Three apps shaped to fit.

Worked example

How Hartley Hire's booking tool came together.

What it looks like

A dashboard that knows your business.

What I build

Tools made for one business, not a thousand.

  • An interface built for how you work, not a generic template
  • A database structured around what you actually track
  • Connects with email, calendar, accounting, payments and customer records
  • Works just as well on a phone as on a desk

What you receive

Built to last, owned by you.

  • All code, data and documentation, yours to keep with no licences or lock-in
  • Plain-English documentation so anyone on the team can pick it up
  • Scope for adding features as the business grows
  • Reliable hosting and backups, handled

FAQ

Common questions.

Won't a custom build cost a fortune?

Most start small. The first useful version is usually 1-2 weeks of focused build, then it grows from there. Bigger ambitions get scoped properly before any work starts, so the price isn't a surprise.

How long does it take?

First useful version: 1-2 weeks for something simple, 4-6 weeks for something with more moving parts. Priority is getting something usable in your hands quickly, then refining once you've actually used it.

Will it work with my existing tools?

Yes. Connects to the email, calendar, accounting, payment and customer-record tools you already use. The point is to fit around what you've got, not replace it.

Do I own the code?

Yes. The code is yours. No tied-in licences, no per-seat fees, no hostage situation if you ever want to take it elsewhere.

Got an idea for a custom build?

A workflow review can sketch out what your version would look like and what it would actually take.
